SWAINE FLAGSHIP STORE, LONDON
Swaine, Adeney and Brigg, known now as Swaine, (who fabricate the Umbrellas and Hats that made Kingsman and Indiana Jones famous), are a well establish heritage British brand who embarked on a journey to modernize its image and establish a flagship store on London's prestigious Bond Street. The aim was to develop a concept that would both honour the brand's rich heritage and appeal to a contemporary audience in an outstanding new location.
We were approached by Swaine to implement the design of their flagship store on Bond Street. The original notion was by Malherbe, Paris. Our role was to interpret and meticulously detail the design as well as oversee its execution within the constraints of the historic Bond Street location. We carefully analysed the material palette proposed by Malherbe, adapting it to suit the local construction methods and site-specific challenges. The result is a harmonious blend of traditional and modern elements, creating a luxurious and inviting shopping experience. The basement level of the store houses an impressive artisan workshop, offering visitors a glimpse into the meticulous processes that underpin the brand's reputation for excellence. We worked closely with the client to develop and implement this novel feature, resulting in a significantly enhanced, immersive shopping experience

THE BANK
The Bank, a stunning new flagship store, occupies a prime location on London’s fashionable St. John’s Wood High Street. Our client’s vision was to create an inviting space where customers could explore, shop, unwind, and savour a cup of coffee. The former bank building, with its enviable street-front position, is divided into two interconnecting rectangular zones. The entrance space, accessible from the street, features bespoke joinery to showcase a selection of products. The second space offers a more tranquil shopping experience, complete with comfortable seating areas. Bespoke hanging rails adorn the walls, punctuated by vertical timber sections that theatrically display various stunning accessories. Both spaces features stepped coffered ceilings with edge lighting, creating an illusion of heightened space. A side window, designed as an intimate pop-up scene, can be transformed with seasonal displays.

Over a period of 20 years we have been working with the British Jeweller – Boodles trying to constantly develop designs for their numerous premises in major cities in the UK.
The retail business is constantly changing and challenges designers to respond in a different fashion every time they approach a new project.
One of the latest units was the flagship store comprising of two units. Both buildings are in the Mayfair Conservation area and 19 Albemarle Street is a Grade ll listed building which means it’s a designated heritage asset.
The most important and also most difficult part of the refurbishment works was to connect the two retail units at ground and basement levels and enclose the redundant courtyard between them.
The proposals also included a lift installation to connect all three floors within the Albemarle street side and to allow for full accessibility within this part of the retail unit. Both parts of the retail unit use three different types of glass panels on the walls.
These are all produced in Paris and the signature panels are made of a sandblasted glass with a fabric imprinted pattern and hand applied Palladium leaf.
Both parts of the store feature a bespoke wall chandelier, made with cut crystals and individual blown pieces lit with colour changing fibre optics ; a design developed in collaboration with Czech company Lasvit who manufacture all the glass by hand in their factory.
These unique designs have been developed for different Boodles sites over the last few years.

As part for the overall improvements in Harrods Department store, we were asked to look at a re-design of the Fine Jewellery hall which had, over a period of time, become lacklustre and ‘tired’ looking.
Our task was to re-define the dividing ‘wall’ between the private selling areas of the individual brands and the central space where fine watches and jewellery are sold over the counter.
To achieve that we formed a rectangular central landscape of curved counters with translucent areas for privacy, using a back-lit onyx wall as a backdrop in combination with large glass vitrines and connected to the rest of the floor by black glass ‘tunnels’ which serve to dramatize somewhat the sense of entry into the space.
As Harrods’ position in the world of Jewellery was established a few years later, we were asked to and expand the Fine Jewellery and redefine the existing Designer Jewellery Hall for which we introduced luxurious gold leaf lined moon glass panels as a back drop to the centrally positioned all glass counters.
The final project was the Fine Watch Hall which we envisioned as a free flowing boundary wall formed of full height circular glass vitrines both forming and embracing the landscape of curved central counters and connected to the adjacent Halls through dramatic black glass tunnels.
Our objective was to create unique Rooms that would be instantly recognisable within the world of luxury.
Openness and privacy, transparency and translucency are the qualities we have tried to express, and the high calibre of all the materials enhance and emphasise the requisite feeling of opulence and luxury.
